• If the work belongs to the US, only the Date of publication matters. As a 1927 work from unknown author, then, without a copyright notice, {{PD-US-no-notice}} could apply. --Amitie 10g (talk) 02:38, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

    {{PD-US-no notice}} requires evidence of publication before 1978. It is also necessary to specify where the image was published so that others can verify that there was no copyright notice. Currently, there is no information at all about any publication. The upload to the library's website maybe constitutes publication, but the file was obviously not uploaded to the website until a long time after 1977. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:13, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

    • @Magog the Ogre: @Stefan2: I got an e-mail from the library. Unfortunately the entity that gave the photo to the LAPL, Security Pacific National Bank, did not maintain certain records related to it. Therefore the LAPL does not know who created the image, nor do they know the date of first publication. The next step would be to contact en:Security Pacific Bank but Bank of America acquired it in 1992. I am not sure who at Bank of America to contact. Should I look for its Los Angeles offices?
