Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? File:Mother of the Bengal Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Islamic University, Bangladesh.jpg seems to pre-date the change in Bangladeshi copyright law regarding FOP; so, it should be OK as licensed, right? Tool for batch editing of category sort keys

Hello. Do you know any tool or script that would allow batch editing of sort keys of categories? I could not see that feature in cat-a-lot. It would be very useful if there was one. Sanglahi86 (talk) 09:16, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

@Sanglahi86 I dunno, my apologies. I edit sort keys manually.

I'm more into editing the descriptions manually too. I thought of Visual File Change (aka "Perform bacth task"), but apparently it won't touch category pages. --Rosenzweig τ 10:27, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

@Sanglahi86: You can use the VisualFileChange tool, select "custom replace" in the Action pulldown box. Type in the "Pattern to match" box the category name, and type in the "Text to insert instead" box the category name plus sort key. Example:

Pattern to match	Text to insert instead
[[Category:Philippines]]	[[Category:Philippines|Sort key]]

Hello, @P199: . I tried VisualFileChange but it seems it allows mass editing only of files and not categories. Does the tool support batch edits of categories too? Or perhaps I just overlooked something? Thanks. Sanglahi86 (talk) 10:06, 16 January 2025 (UTC)

Hhhmm maybe you could do it in a semi-automated way with AutoWikiBrowser. I'm not sure how though and that's all I can come up with aside from making a bot request. So P199's suggestion of how to do it with VisualFileChange is your best bet, baring a better option of course. --Adamant1 (talk) 02:14, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Philippine FoP with respect to buildings under construction
