Could you please explain these redirects?

You uploaded these two duplicate files 3-4 minutes after my uploads today, but there is no "deletion log" for either of these two duplicate files. Could you explain the process using redirects for duplicate files? Did you make a "duplicate" deletion request for them? Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 22:41, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- I didn’t upload those files at all. Instead, I created redirect links to avoid potential duplicate uploads that might occur in the future if the files were uploaded en masse using Flickr2Commons. By not using the unique identifiers provided by Flickr2Commons, the likelihood of duplicates increases. To prevent that without uploading new files, creating redirect links helps minimize the risk, especially when uploading from an album. RandomUserGuy1738 (talk) 00:04, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your work. --A1Cafel (talk) 03:14, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

File:DSC 7362 (50296995398).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Please categorise mass uploads
[edit]Per our previous conversation on 3 December 2024, if you're mass uploading files from a source such as House of the Oireachtas, could you please place the files into a container category? This speeds things up enormously as then other users could use cat-a-lot to add additional categories as the files are coming in.
When you don't place them in any container category, other users have to hope we can find them all in a hidden category.
So for example, today if would have been handy if you placed the files in a category called "Category:Election of An Taoiseach, 22 January 2025". CeltBrowne (talk) 13:24, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- As I mentioned previously, I usually add categories right after uploading them. That way, it is easier for me to use cat-a-lot to categorize everything when I am done. RandomUserGuy1738 (talk) 13:29, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
- All I'm asking for is one category on upload to group all the files together so that other users can work on them at the same time. I was able to group all the files into one category this time because they all have the same file name format and thus were easy to group together in a hidden category. However, if they all had individual, non-alphabetical files names they would have been extremely hard to group together.
- Placing all of the files in a mass upload into at least one category speeds things up enormously if multiple users are interested in the same files are the same time. CeltBrowne (talk) 13:42, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
